Battery-powered horse inhaler (self-made) with ultrasonic nebulizers (NEW) - We offer here an ultrasonic inhaler (rechargeable battery) for horses (self-made).
As I was put off by the high prices of conventional horse inhalers, we have built this alternative solution. I use this type of inhaler myself with my mare and have had positive experiences. She has irregular nasal discharge. By inhaling with brine, I hope that existing mucus will loosen better. We inhale before exercise. After exercise, mucus visibly clears every time. In my experience, feeding close to the ground promotes the removal of mucus. I think it would be great if others could also benefit from this concept.
The inhaler consists of:
Mask/bucket: Diameter inside approx. 20 cm, diameter outside approx. 24 cm, height 20 cm, with two connecting parts for the nebulizer and two eyelets for the neck piece Neck piece/strap: Adjustable between 80 and 140 cm with snap hooks for easy attachment to the eyelets Two ultrasonic nebulizers: Are snapped onto the connecting parts of the mask at approximately the height of the nostrils (incl. USB charging cable, operating instructions and storage bag) About the nebulizers:
These are rechargeable nebulizers which, according to the manufacturer, are designed for humans. The inhalation chambers can each be filled with approx. 8-10 ml of inhalate. The nebulizers have a slow and a faster speed setting. I have already nebulized 0.9 % NaCl and 2.5 % brine with the nebulizers and have had good experiences. According to the manufacturer, water-soluble medication can also be nebulized. However, inhalants containing oil must not be used.
Nebulization with completely filled inhalation chambers takes approx. 15 minutes on the faster setting. The nebulizers switch off automatically when the inhalation chamber is empty. After each nebulization, the nebulizers should be operated once again with clear water (expressly no distilled water). Occasionally, the individual parts should be thoroughly cleaned with a 75% ethanol solution.
Further data on the nebulizers according to the manufacturer:
Particle size produced: between 1-5 µm Volume: under 25 dB Battery capacity: 800 mAh / 120 minutes running time Two speed levels: >0.25 ml/min and >0.4 ml/min This means that there is no difference between the nebulizers used here and the standard horse inhalers (SaHoMa, Air One, Hartwig, FlexiNeb) in terms of the particle size produced. The horse inhalers are merely more powerful, as they nebulize more inhalate in a shorter time.
Additionally required:
Individually required inhalants 75% ethanol solution for occasional cleaning If necessary, a towel to additionally cover the top of the bucket and prevent chafing No promise of cure is made here and no responsibility is assumed for the effect. It is expressly pointed out that this is not a veterinary product and that the components used are not medical products.
We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the operating instructions for the nebulizer before you start inhaling. In addition, inhalation should always be supervised. Make sure that there is enough space so that the inhaler does not bump into anything when the horse's head moves.
Please use the measurements given above to check in advance whether the inhaler - especially the bucket - fits your horse by measuring the circumference of its head.
